The influence of the Maya can be felt throughout the Peninsula as the ancient civilizations can be seen in the nearby ruins of Tulum, Chichen Itza, Coba and Aktun Chen among other still undiscovered sites.

Of particular importance are the magnificent ruins of Chichen Itza which were recognized in 2009 as one of the 7 new wonders of the world and make for an unforgettable visit to the heart of Mayan culture.
